What to expect in Our Counselling Sessions

Asking for help isn't easy, I spent years thinking that the best way to deal with the feelings brought about life's challenges was to, 'bottle them up' and not talk about them, hoping that eventually they would go away. The reality was that this led to issues with anxiety, low mood, frustration and in extreme cases panic. Sound familiar?

Just as it did for me, counselling could be the key to helping you unlock the root cause of how you are feeling and to help you address the consequences of those feelings once and for all.

Starting counselling can feel daunting, but I am here to create a welcoming and supportive environment for you. Here's what you can expect during our sessions

First Session Overview

In our first session, we'll begin by discussing our working contract. This contract outlines our mutual commitments, ensuring that we establish a safe and confidential space for our work together.  I will ask you a few personal questions, such as your address and GP details, along with some questions about how you've been feeling over the last couple of weeks. This initial information will help us identify the specific reasons that has brought you to counselling and clarify what you would like to focus on during our time together.

Ongoing Sessions

Our sessions are open-ended, allowing us to adapt the pace and focus based on your needs. During each session, we will regularly review your progress and any changes in your curcumstances, ensuring that our work remains relevant and effective. Throughout the counselling process, you will have the opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental environment, and together we will explore the challenges you face. My goal is to support you in acheiving your personal goals and fostering your well-being.
